Seven years ago on July 1st 2007, we opened for business for the first time, at our first store, in downtown East Greenwich. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than to announce that a third Civil location will be opening soon!
The inspiration for the new store came from our customers who drive 45 minutes from the Westerly area to shop in our East Greenwich location. With you in mind, and after many months of scouting, planning, and preparation, we are finally ready to announce that Civil Westerly will be open for business in early August, with a grand opening celebration to follow.
Our newest store will be conveniently located on the outskirts of downtown Westerly at 130 Granite Street (Route 1), which is only a few minutes from Route 78 and close to I-95. Our 3000 square foot store front will give us plenty of room to load up on the best gear, and we’ll also have plenty of dedicated parking in our shared lot.
In the Civil tradition, our Westerly store will focus on skateboards, footwear, apparel, and accessories. We’re also looking forward to stepping into the surfboard market for the first time.
It’s pretty hard to believe that we’ve come so far since opening our first store 7 years ago. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of our friends and supporters who believe in local, independent retail.
