We’re psyched to introduce Iris Skateboards to Rhode Island, and it’s about time because Iris owner, George Rocha not only grew up in Pawtucket, but he is also an old friend of ours. George was very active in the Providence skateboard scene back in the Luna Sea era, and he eventually came over to work with us at Smitty’s in the mid 90’s.
After moving to San Francisco, George took advantage of his network within the skateboard industry to salvage used and broken skateboards, which he now turns into beautiful handmade cruisers. Check out the video for a glimpse into the production process.
Recycling…….upcycling……what ever you want to call it, you definitely need to buy an Iris skateboard. This isn’t some big company cashing in on a trend. This is a real skateboarder producing hand crafted works of art.
Iris Skateboards creates unique handmade one of a kind skateboards using recycled skateboards. We are based in San Francisco California where we skate to live and live to skate.
Every new Iris board contains the wood from over 20 old skateboards, that would normally go to the landfill. We believe that skateboards should remain above ground and under your feet! -IrisSkateboards.com
Iris cruisers are available now at Civil East Greenwich and Westerly and will be landing in Providence by the end of the week.
