Civil X Vans Go Skate Weekend Recap

Civil x Vans – Go Skate Weekend iPhone Edit from M. Hubbs on Vimeo.

We got rained out on the “official” June 21st Go Skate Day, so we’re psyched to see how many people were able to come out on short notice for our rescheduled events last weekend.

On Saturday, the dudes took it to the streets of Providence.  Special thanks to Casey Pipes for coming through in the clutch with some really sick new benches, which served as a drop spot throughout the day.  Late in the afternoon, the event was capped off with an after party at Grant’s Block with Nice Slice pizza, free gear from Vans and Quintessential skateboards, and entertainment by The Music Please.

Sunday started out with more torrential rains in Westerly, but fortunately we caught a break in the weather and things got going at White Rock around noontime.  It stayed dry for most of the day until a spot shower in the late afternoon sent a few people home.  But once things dried out again there was more room to maneuver, which lead to some heavy ripping and bit of filming late in the day.  The event wrapped with some giveaways from our sponsors and some well timed pizza from Vetrano’s.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors, particularly our title sponsor, Vans, who provided free food, drinks, tents, and tons of free gear to give away in both Providence and Westerly.  Thanks to Justin Villano, Matt Hubbard and Quntiessental Skateboards for donating free gear and shooting some quality iPhone video, Bryant Moscote and The Music Please for the entertainment, Brendan Campbell for making our flyers, Nice Slice Pizzeria and Vetrano’s Restaurants for hooking it up on the pies, Indowncity Providence for letting us use Grant’s Block, and all of our team and homies who came out and supported the event.  We’re already looking forward to next year.
